Caravaggio and Francis Bacon at Galleria Borghese, Rome
The Galleria Borghese host another wonderful exhibition; after Raffaello (2006), Canova (2007) and Correggio (2008) the roman gallery celebrates the greatCaravaggio from October 1 2009 to January 24 2010. In occurency of IV centenary of his death, Caravaggio masterpieces will be put side by side with one of the most important figurative artists of the XX century: Francis Bacon. The two great artists are so close in their intense and tormented art but so historically distant, with 400 years of difference. The exhibition is different than the others, joining the different artworks by visual compatibility and do not suggest the classical historycal artworks tour. The result is an emotional trip trough the human existence by the traumatic then vivid life experiences of the authors.
The Galleria Borghese would show Caravaggio's life trough their most renowed masterpices: Bacchino malato, il Fanciullo con canestro di frutta, Davide con la
testa di Golia, Madonna dei Palafrenieri, San Gerolamo scrivente e San Giovanni Battista, and few more works granted by some of the most important galleries
of the world, like New York's Metropolitan.
Like the baroque master, the precious works of Francis Bacon are exeptionally granted after the personal exhibition by Tate Modern, Prado and Metropolitan.
